Emma Bauer

My name is Emma and I am a sophomore finance and accounting double major. I am from Warren, New Jersey and decided to go to the University of Maryland after falling in love with the campus and all it has to offer. I was especially interested by the Scholars program because of the living-learning aspect and how dedicated all of the faculty seemed to be. Public Leadership Scholars has given me a small community within a large school where I feel supported and challenged. This program has allowed me to improve my leadership abilities and has provided me with other important skills that I will take with me to any future experiences I have. I have been able to focus on my interpersonal skills, writing abilities, and the tools I need to be an efficient leader. As a student in the Smith School of Business, I may not have been able to nurture these skills without the Scholars program. After college, I am not certain about what I want to do with my degree, no matter if I become a CPA, financial planner, or something else, I know I will be able to incorporate the skills I learned in Public Leadership.
